Sustainability

Dorsett Hospitality International has the shared vision of our stakeholders to create a sustainable and hospitable business for our communities. We respond to their expectations through our actions, plans, and policies to ensure our operations are on the path towards this goal.

Our tagline, “Invested in Positive Impacts,” encapsulates our commitment to contributing positively to our community, environment, and society, setting the direction for our corporate identity and future endeavours.

Invested in Positive Impacts

"Invested in Positive Impacts" reflects our unwavering commitment to inspiring our community through meaningful actions. In our ongoing dedication to sustainability, we have introduced a series of initiatives under the #DorsettCares programme.

During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, we took proactive steps to ensure your safety and well-being. Our commitment to hygiene and wellness led us to install air purifiers in all our guest rooms, ensuring optimal ventilation and air quality.

But we didn’t stop there. In 2023, we celebrated World Environment Day with our inaugural Positive Impacts Week. Across our hotels, we raised awareness and implemented programs that give back to our communities. During this inspiring week, 1,700 individuals joined us, collectively taking 3,944,390 steps during outdoor walks. And at Dorsett Gold Coast, we proudly adopted a koala, supporting conservation efforts at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

Highlights:
  • Dorsett Shepherd’s Bush: Our team volunteered to clean up the London city area and revitalised the rear garden to boost biodiversity
  • Dorsett Chengdu: We organised a Natural Landmark Photo Competition to encourage nature appreciation
  • Dorsett Shanghai: Our team’s efforts focused on cleaning up litter in the city park to improve cleanliness
  • Dorsett Wanchai: We offer guests sprout adoption and unveil our new Green Corner at lobby
  • Lan Kwai Fong@Kau U Fong: We organised a beach cleanup volunteering event to enhance Hong Kong’s natural landscape

      Walking the Talk

As a hospitality business, we pride ourselves on being an integral part of the community. Throughout various local and global crises, we have consistently opened our doors, offering our hotels as shelters and distributing essential supplies to those in need. We believe in leveraging our expertise in hospitality to make a positive impact whenever possible.

In January 2024, we proudly sponsored the “Xing Wu Zhi” Walk for Rural Revitalization 2024, aimed at supporting the local community in preserving and revitalising their cultural heritage. This walk traverses two Hakka villages—Kuk Po, Mui Tsz Lam, and Lai Chi Wo—providing an opportunity to appreciate the countryside and engage with the villagers. Despite the challenges faced in revitalising these villages, we are committed to our belief that such initiatives foster a more resilient, diverse, and sustainable socio-environmental development.

      Connect with Passion

DHI has always placed an emphasis on the importance of arts and culture. You will often find local artistic elements incorporated across our properties and is especially noticeable in our d.Collection brands. We believe it can bolster our connectivity with our guests and inspire them through creativity and community talents.

    • Diversity and Inclusion

      Supporting Each Individual

As a female-led company, diversity and inclusion are essential to our growth. We believe that by fostering a diverse corporate culture, we can inspire more innovative and collaborative opportunities across our workplace and communities.

During our DHI Employee Appreciation Week in 2023, we invited a guest speaker from the Amber Foundation, a charitable organisation supporting under-served communities in Hong Kong and South Asia, to discuss female empowerment in the workplace. To further support the empowerment of women in Asia, our head office decided to make a contribution to the Amber Foundation.
